Stress Less, Breathe More – from the comfort of your desk

“Hey guys, have you tried abdominal breathing? It can really help with your mood and thoughts, shall we try?”

From this simple conversation, myself and some of my fellow engineers tried it at our desks.

When others wanted to join in, we decided to book a meeting room at lunchtime where we could all experience it.

Following on from a simple abdominal breathing exercise, more breathing exercises were introduced. Sitting-position, posture and back-ache are hot topics in a corporate engineering office environment and all can be helped using these simple breathing techniques.

The sessions started running every Monday lunchtime for just 10 minutes, still allowing my colleagues to have time to eat their lunch and go for walk.

As time progressed, colleagues wanted to learn more, so I explained the ‘Tibetan Power Breaths’ an ancient set of exercises practiced for their energy generating capability.

The sessions also allowed colleagues to interact with other departments that had never, previously, crossed.

From there, I introduced the nine minute ‘Emerald Waterfall’ Meditation, as some colleagues wanted a time to relax and ‘switch off’ from the busy office environment.

The Monday sessions soon started with a Meditation followed by the Tibetan Power Breaths, so everyone had the option to attend either or both.

Colleagues soon wanted more so a longer relaxation session, on a Thursday lunchtime was introduced and ‘Twin Hearts Meditation’ was enjoyed.

Two years on and now we have weekly drop-in sessions on Mondays and Thursdays.

Staff now have a place to relax, recharge and rejuvenate just a 3 minute walk away from their desks.

We now have a Corporate Social Network group, allowing colleagues to connect, share and be aware of like-minded people…all this from a simple conversation about breathing.

If you’d like to learn simple techniques you too can do at your desk or with your colleagues to take some of the stress out of your work day, join our local meditation groups

Twin Hearts Meditation

What image comes to your mind when you think of meditation?

I used to picture monks sitting in a temple with burning incense and “Om’s” playing in the background. Not for me.

Or was it a yoga studio full of women in an array of coloured leggings all with their hands together in a prayer pose chanting “Namaste”?  Again, definitely not for me.

If you share a similar image, and are rolling your eyes in agreement, think again.

Celebrities all over the world are practicing meditations – and I’m not talking about only the very eccentric ones.  These include A list Hollywood celebrities, top sports personalities and successful business people like Oprah Winfrey, Hugh Jackman, Madonna, Steve Jobs and Kobe Bryant to name only a few. And recently it was also revealed that Prince Harry also incorporates meditation into his daily routine!

However, I’m going to focus on a very specific meditation technique.  One developed by Master Choa Kok Sui, the modern founder of Pranic Healing. I was introduced to the Twin Hearts Meditation when I took my first seminar with Tara Mehmet.  And even as a first time meditator, it really blew me away.

I did attempt to try meditation in the past, but with no success. How could someone like me empty my mind and not think? I was born to think and to analyse. It was what I was good at and I built a career out of my logical and methodical brain. So every time I closed my eyes, I would think too hard of trying not to think. I would think of my day and what I needed to remember. I would think incessantly with no hope of stilling the mind.  And so I gave up.

But something was different about the Twin Hearts Meditation.  I followed the soothing voice of Master Choa Kok Sui himself. I imagined my happy events and I even blessed the world. Something was triggering within me and I felt emotional, and to a certain extent, even glimpses of stillness. I learned that meditations in general could help in many areas of life – and this was scientifically proven!  Aside from helping you to relax and quiet your mind, regular practice makes you happier, calmer and more at peace. It also increases focus, memory recall and increases the Gamma Wave activity in your brain – the fastest of the brainwave frequencies and signifies the highest state of focus possible (this is the ‘zone’ that top sports people enter into when they are at their peak performance levels).

Master Choa Kok Sui specifically developed the Twin Hearts Meditation to flush out the negative thoughts and emotions that congest our body and mind every day. And for most people in today’s hectic society, that’s a lot of negativity to work on. In fact, a medical research study concluded that after 1,000 hours of meditation, the group of meditators had significantly more Gamma brain waves then their non-meditating counterparts, as well as a decreased heart and respiratory rate.

Don’t just read this and listen to my opinion. Put it to the test like I did. After last Christmas, I decided to put myself to a 30-day meditation challenge and did the Meditation on Twin Hearts daily. After a few days I actually looked forward to my 21 minute sessions and wondered why I would ever think I didn’t have the time. Investing in your 21 minutes allows you to re-focus your mind and I actually could think more clearly and therefore became more efficient in my day-to-day jobs. Many of you can probably relate, but I used to feel like I was running around like a headless chicken, and barely had a chance to take breaths in between.  Now I can act ‘slower’ but get things done ‘better’ and in less time than I could previously.

What do you have to lose? Or actually the question should be, what can you actually gain?

My journey from a Sceptic to a Practitioner

Twenty seconds that would change my life, the beginning of a transformation that I wasn’t yet aware of, this is the story of my journey from being a sceptic to becoming a practitioner.

To be honest, I didn’t even know what the two hour seminar was about. I only went along because of a donation from MCKS Charitable Foundation UKto “Rosie’s Rainbow Fund”, a charity for whom I am Trustee and Treasurer.

Why would any organisation donate a substantial amount of money to a small local charity, without them even having to apply for it? I was sceptical and so needed to find out more.

The seminar was being run by a local Instructor who began by showing us all a specific breathing technique, to help us to relax, she explained we would then be able to take on information more easily.  She continued with an introduction to energy. I was intrigued as it was a concept that I knew little about, yet found it familiar and fascinating.  She then talked in depth about energy and how it affects us all. In order to validate this point she asked for a volunteer.

I immediately put my hand up hoping I could learn something. I was still a sceptic despite my curiosity, she turned to me and invited me up in front of everyone, she instructed me to close my eyes and to just relax.

I couldn’t see what she was doing, but I sensed she was going reduce my stress energy.

“Nothing ever works on me”, I muttered to myself silently.  “I’m just one of those people who never…”

All of a sudden, I felt something happening in the pit of my stomach. This sensation quickly made its way up past my chest and into my throat. I had the urge to cry and didn’t have time to fight it. Something had happened and now I was sobbing uncontrollably.  A couple of minutes later, it was over. I opened my eyes to the many wide-eyed attendees, all probably wondering, as I did, what on earth had happened.

I listened much more intently to the remainder of the seminar, I felt a sense of calm running through me. The next few days I felt an inner silence; one that I had not felt for a very long time.

This seminar was the first day of my journey out of an unspoken dark abyss,

Twenty seconds of treatment had changed my life and sparked me to take the Self Development Level 1 Pranic Healing and become a practitioner myself.  Ten months on I have progressed through the course levels.

Today, I received a thank you from a friend whom I have been treating for “hypertension”, she has been told by her doctor that she can come off of her medication completely.   This I know is just the beginning of the many “miracles” yet to come.

One day I’ll be able to tell more of my story, but for now I’m just so grateful that I have found Pranic Healing.

NEW TO PRANIC HEALING? 5 TOP TIPS TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR PRACTICE

If you’ve recently taken the Pranic Healing Level 1 class, you’ll know just how life changing that weekend can be.  When you think about who you know that would benefit from a treatment, you’ll find that you could be healing all day, every day.

Not everyone wants to be a healer but everybody needs some sort of healing. With your new skills, you’re now fully equipped with the ability to help physical aches, pains, chronic conditions and how to alleviate someone’s stress and anxiety.

How many times when you are stressed, do you find it difficult to concentrate or see what steps you can make to resolve a situation?  After experiencing a healing, you feel calmer, which gives you more clarity, enabling you to make the right choices or view a situation with a clear head.

Some of you might be raring to go, others might be a little apprehensive about getting out there and healing, so here are some tips to help you get on track.

1 Practice, practice practice

Grab your friends, colleagues, partner or even next door’s dog or cat. By practicing the techniques, the procedure starts to become more automatic. Healing as many people (or pets) as you can, you will start to see the transformations.  This increases your confidence as a new Pranic Healer and any self-doubt starts to disappear.

2 Review the Class

Remember just how much you learnt in the two day course? Sometimes you can miss information or you may be a little unsure of a technique so by reviewing the Level 1 course, or attending one of the practice sessions, it really helps all the information sink it.

An added bonus is that when you review,  it’s a reduced rate.

3 Self Healing

Remember the healer needs healing too. It’s important to take some time out for yourself, some ‘ME’ time. Helping others is great but you have to keep our own energy levels in tip top condition. You are also the best person to validate your own healing.

4 Study

Schedule a regular slot in your week to study your ‘Miracles of Pranic Healing’ book. Every protocol has an explanation and with proper study, you’ll start to understand why you are working on the particular chakra. With a deep understanding of the chakras, your healing ability will improve. You’ll notice every time you read the book after taking a class, your awareness and understanding goes deeper.
